Israel Briefly Shuts Airspace After Yemen Missile Intercepted

(MENAFN) Israel temporarily closed its airspace on Monday after intercepting a missile fired from Yemen, according to reports.

The Israeli military said it successfully shot down the missile after air raid sirens were activated across the Tel Aviv metropolitan area and parts of central and southern Israel.

Prior to the interception, the Israeli Home Front Command had issued public alerts following the detection of the incoming launch.

According to TV channel, authorities later decided to suspend air traffic temporarily in response to the incident.

The development comes amid rising regional tensions, following reports that Iran launched multiple missile attacks toward northern Israel late Sunday after an Israeli strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs.

In response, Israel carried out strikes on western and central Iran, with explosions reported in several cities including Tehran, Isfahan, and Tabriz.
